Scythe

The Steam Punk Themed Scythe blade was a commission from a movie make-up artist. This was one of the first times I used Google SketchUp to model a project. I found the program easy to use and very quick to get a good representation of the finished product. This made the client very happy.

All Aluminum is 3/8" thick plate. The handle was welded from three pieces. The Blade was cut on the bandsaw and final shaping was done with grinders and files. The client picked out the piece of mahogany for the handle and it is attached with glue and brass sex bolts.

A spring loaded lock holds the blade in place when opened and is disengaged by pulling the copper plate on the handle downwards.
