Material for the struts, the crane, all the bolts, and the sheets for the covering was free.
All the angle iron came as shipping brackets on equipment I was installing at my last job; I was lucky to able to get it.
The sheets were donated by a friend.
The only material cost was dye for the sheets, zip ties, paint and fender washers, all of which totaled just over $100.
A lot of money was spent on consumable goods such as: cut off discs, a new grinder, and food for the crew.
I know I got incredibly lucky having the metal given to me; the dome would not have been built without it. However I find that opportunity is where you make it, it doesn't just happen.
