Apocalypse Lounge

This is the biggest project to come out of my work shop. In fact it is larger than my house. Over 1500sq ft of shade structure, 20ft tall and capable of withstanding 50mph gusts of wind.

Scale was the driving factor behind this project, it had to be BIG.

Another goal of this project was to spend as little money as possible. The final cost of materials was $300. Almost all of the materials were pulled from scrap piles or donated.

Items purchased:
3 used billboards (flooring material)
4 Cable winches
150ft of rope
18 20ft 1" PVC pipe
10 20ft 3/4" PVC pipe
30lb of 1/8" 6011 welding rod
Miles of sewing thread

Items scavenged or donated:
90sq ft of rusty 3/8" plate metal
20 10ft pieces of 3"x3"x1/4" angle iron
8 8ft pieces of 2"x2"x1/4" angle iron
90 24mm bolts
Car springs
30 pieces of 48"x1/2" solid square stock

These are the photos of the construction as it was taking place
