The design and construction of the Ship has been a largely based on what materials I could salvage. Due to the complexity of the wheel that material had to be purchased. I was starting to get afraid that I would need to purchase the material for the frame around the drive train. In my sketches I had designed it as 4inch by 4inch steel tubing but I was ready to change the design for any material that would work.
This past week it just so happens I was given 46 feet of this 4x4x1/4 inch material. It is a little bit rusty but will work well. Aaron and I spent some time with a wire cup brush and some big grinders cleaning the rust off.
We can now move forward with the frame.
This will take a lot of heavy stick welding (SMAW). I am looking forward to some beefy welds. I am also playing with the idea of upgrading my welding table for the frame construction.

Welcome to the Construction Blog of the Pirate Ship. I plan to have it done for Burning Man 2010 as time and material present themselves. I am trying to use as much recycled and reused material as possible. Some things I will have to buy, for that we are making and selling Tripod-Sentinels. Please Visit the main page to lean more.
