I leave for Black Rock City tomorrow morning. I plan on meeting a lot of new people and chances are if you are reading this you got one of my stickers (thank you). You can read previous posts and watch the YouTube videos to learn more about the Ship.
I plan to have the Pirate Ship finished for Burning Man 2010. This is where I need your help. My current budget has me spending $4000-$6000 on electronics, and consumables (I already have most of the materials).
I don’t want you to “just” give me money, I would feel better if you got something in return; so let me tell you about the “Tripods”:
This year (2009) my Art project is making 140 small Tripod creatures.

They will be gifted all over the Playa next week, some will go to predetermined homes, some will be left on their own to find a home.
When I get back to Oregon a new batch will be made that will be for sale to help raise money for the ship. If you would like a Tripod and would like to help build this ship please send me a message.
The new batch of Tripods will be more sophisticated: They will have on-off switches and battery trays; they will be clear coated to prevent rusting.
I will take ten pre orders for $50 each, and then the price will be $65 (shipping will be extra). This is an awesome chance to support two Burning Man art projects at once, one you can point to on the Playa, and one you can take with you on your travels.
I hope everyone has/had a great Burn. Thank you for your support.

Welcome to the Construction Blog of the Pirate Ship. I plan to have it done for Burning Man 2010 as time and material present themselves. I am trying to use as much recycled and reused material as possible. Some things I will have to buy, for that we are making and selling Tripod-Sentinels. Please Visit the main page to lean more.

Dude, I’m a pretty good machinist. Just sayin’. And sign me up for another tripod. I think they should travel in pairs. I’d love to come out and put some more sweat into the project, so just let me know when you’re back and at it again.
I’d love to come learn & help too!
I’ve decide to purchase an additional tripod for my son’s upcoming 17th birthday. He is totally stoked about the one gifted to me on the playa (thank you!), and would love the opportunity to come to your shop to learn how to make them. He’s hoping I will purchase the newer version with the switch for his birthday gift, and I think that will make an awesome gift while helping your cause. xoxo ~eyefleye
Hey Man! This is Bucky from Happy Camp. I stopped and helped pick up the LostMachine stickers on the highway on the way to the Playa…
I got the Tripod you left for me (his name is Quark), and his light still burns dimly today. I was utterly flabbergasted when I saw him… I have never received a finer gift on the playa. Truly. Thank you so much!
Sorry I never made it over to your side of the world, but, well, the playa happened! You know how it is…
Thank you again for the wonderful gift. He is truly a treasure.
Oh, I would love one of these – are they still available?
Thanks.
