My Plan for April had been getting the motor and steering in place. Funds didn’t allow this so I’ve been working on the Cabin and Deck which I had planned to do in May and June. The important things is that I keep working. Funds are coming in again and I think I’ll be able to pick up the rear Axel in the next two weeks.
As of April 14th, 2010 This is what has been built on the Pirate Ship:
I also spent some time working on the 3d model of the Ship. Not knowing my building material I have been both designing the ship and building it at the same time. Sometimes construction gets ahead of the model. This has made for a very interesting project. Their are days where I will take measurements off my 3d model then go to the shop and cut material and and at other times I will take measurements off of the built ship then go back into the house and add things to the model. As chaotic as this sounds it seems to be working.

Welcome to the Construction Blog of the Pirate Ship. I plan to have it done for Burning Man 2010 as time and material present themselves. I am trying to use as much recycled and reused material as possible. Some things I will have to buy, for that we are making and selling Tripod-Sentinels. Please Visit the main page to lean more.

Hey Pirate Ship Guy,
Super Cool!
I finally found out what those tripods were all about. You left one at our camp (The Vomiting Sparrows) and no one seemed to know where it came from. I stumbled across a picture of one on some website and ended up here. I am really impressed with what you are doing. Fantastic design and imagination. Can’t wait to see it. I will put in my order for a tripod today.
Is the drive going to be hydraulic? Are you gonna use propane? That is how that big mansion on the playa motivated.
Congratulations on a truly awesome vehicle.

That is Awesome.
I remember the “Vomiting Sparrows” but I can’t remember if I knew someone camping with you or if it was pure randomness. Where do most of you guys live? Does a guy name Bucky camp with you? Do you remember the website you found the Tripod pic from?
Last year I gave away 140 “Wishing Tripods”, some were gifted to people I know, people that brought really cool artwork to the Playa, but a lot of them were left in random places with notes on them. They have two LEDs and two batteries and that is it, no switches no extra electronics.
The New “Dancing Tripods” have over 6000 lines of code written into their micro controller, 4 RGB LED that give ~36million different colors, and replaceable AAA batteries. Yours (#92) is already boxed up and I will drop it off at the Post Office tomorrow morning.
I am writing a new blog post that should explain a lot more on the drive system of the ship so check out the new blog updates. .
Thanks again for supporting the ship,
Andy
